Beginning  and Continuing Drawing

Beginning Drawing

Can't draw a straight line with a ruler?

Do you remember how much fun it was to draw with the freedom of a child? Our beginning class will teach you how to do that again.
There is also a class for children designed to help them learn technique while maintaining and developing their innate creativity in a professional art studio.

Continuing Drawing

For those who have had Beginning Drawing or its equivalent, a chance to explore in greater depth the tools, materials and techniques of realistic, abstract, expressionistic and other forms of drawing. We will pay extra attention to structure and form, do a little figure drawing and go outside and draw nature and buildings when the weather is right.

Portrait Making (Drawing or Sculpture) or Figure Drawing

Figure Drawing will teach you how to draw the human form—so it will have the right proportions, will not look clumsy and will look like it’s standing up when it’s supposed to be.
All levels welcome, but the class will be more rewarding if you have had a beginning drawing class.

Portrait Making will teach you to make accurate and expressive portraits through the study of form, volume, skull anatomy, character and the other factors that make a person recognizable from up close or a distance. Work in drawing (one session) or in clay (two sessions). See sculpture for details of  portrait making in clay.
